Hello everyone!
Invariably, it’s been a minute since I’ve seen you, what with all the excitement and frenzied activity here at Fates on Fire over the past 8 months. In any event, we’re glad to be back and repositioned for 2025 and beyond. Here’s a brief overview of some of the critical accomplishments that occurred whilst the “Under Construction” banner has been flying over the site.
BUSINESS REPOSITIONING
After months of slogging through an exhausting morass of bureaucracy, I am delighted to announce that Fates on Fire is officially, legally and otherwise, an independent publishing LLC, recognized on a state, federal and global basis.
NEW LOOK
Last Fall began the excruciating extrication process from the nefarious clutches of our previous web hosting provider. I’ll spare you the sordid details, but, in the end, we were able to identify a new partner who will serve us and our needs, both current and future, well.
Despite the acrimonious departure, the timing, it turned out, was somewhat fortuitous as the site needed to undergo a major overhaul to represent the publishing focus. Nevertheless, that took some time, but here we are now. The intent was to preserve the branding while shifting the emphasis. I hope you like it.
With respect to all things publishing, we locked-down our printing partners, developmental editor, art director, project manager and a potential overseas distributor. It took some doing, but we have assembled a stellar support team.
NEW BOOKS
The banality of business aside, much of the downtime was centered on the actual art. Specifically, completing the final drafts of the new novel, “Post-Punk Road Show” and the especial precursor to “Rock ‘N’ Roll Zero: A Magical Life in the Margins of Music,” entitled “Singles & Rarities.”
As of this writing, both are being prepared for proofreading and formatting. In addition, we’ve identified some amazing design talent to handle the covers and related art assets. Subscribers will get a first look this Summer.
The plan is to launch both via Kickstarter on October 1st and offer limited editions in a variety of formats. You can find all the glorious details on the new “Books” page here on the site. I hope you are as excited as we are for these upcoming releases.
A CALL TO ACTION
As you may imagine, being the founder of a boutique publishing house, as well as its primary author, is positively exhilarating. It’s also a bit frightening – as are all great things in life. It feels like the times when I started a band from literally nothing but an idea and a lot of moxie. In fact, I’ve come to realize that the publishing business is very much similar, if not identical, to the music business. The commerce of art is the commerce of art, irrespective of the medium.
I do know that success, of any sort, is predicated on the support of others. The support of you! I’ve intentionally structured Fates On Fire like all of my prior artistic endeavors, which is to focus on the quality of the art. Period. My goal is to bring new forms of beauty to life and to have those who engage with it to be uplifted in some meaningful way.
To that end, I am asking for your help. I am asking you to subscribe to Fates on Fire (which you can do down below or via the pop-up window). I would like for you to join us and be an active part of supporting independent art and artists. If you’d also like to share this with your friends, followers and other like-minded compatriots, that would also be deeply appreciated!
By subscribing, you’ll be made aware of any salient events like cover design reveals, book launch news, and the like. Plus, you get some additional benefits and discounts during the Kickstarter campaigns. We will not spam or, in any way, “over-communicate,” as we all get enough of that already.
So, let’s do this. Let’s do this together!
Welcome to the Fates On Fire family. I hope you enjoy the journey!
